@Heitorsant Apparently the background is like that because the bootleg renders the background gradient for the "Save this many mice!" screen before the level starts, but the screen itself got removed so it just loads the level with the black to red gradient. Also it doesn't happen when there's a boss encounter

gotta love how gonazles uses sonic's running, balancing and halting sprites from sonic 2 and 1 as a basis

makes sonic 4 more of a "accurate" rendition if it was sonic and not speedy gonzales

@teh_super_hackr In Stage 6-1, there's a button that you are meant to press to continue on the level. Due to that it relied on some obscure behaviour, it meant that it was lucky that it worked on real hardware however most of the emulators at the time (ZSNES, SNES9X), it caused the game to crash. Very few people knew about this as it was a game that barely anyone played or got that far.

bsnes was the first emulator that could run the game from start to finish due to its accuracy focus. Don't know if it works on new versions of SNES9X though. There's also a patch to fix this "bug".

@Dolphman What space button?

Yep! What's also bizarre. The button in the space level that freezes the game is also present in the original game. Not sure if that occurs on real hardware, though.

I agree. Can someone rename the title for this section?
