I wait all my life for this moment
Sound effects should probably go to their respective game category, since for the most part they are identical to their retail version (or latest prototype if unreleased).
Are there any plans to the sound rips of this one be uploaded? Because you can rip samples importing the ROM as RAW, and also import it as Unsigned 8-bit PCM. You get all samples, but the first step is making calculations with correct pitch samples and upscale it to be in possible clean quality.
It wasn't originally created for Sonic 2, but instead for a Sega CD demo.
The composer rearranged the song using GEMS as practice for using the then new sound driver. When he heard the news that Sonic 2 is in development, he pitched this song thinking it could work in the style of a Sonic game, hence the SONIC 2 name of the module. It was quickly rejected by the Sonic 2 team, who preferred using their existing tools from Sonic 1.

No, it was always just for a demo. I remember reading somewhere that the Cabaret song was allegedly offered to be included in Sonic 2, but that may have just been a misconception.
Wasn't the Club Scene in this demo actually meant for Sonic 2?
