Maybe they're what defines the boundaries for the pupils? Or the mask to prevent them from showing over the characters' skin each side of their eyes. Or both!

For this submission, I merged the base flat colored image with its respective alpha mask to create the "base" graphics with their transparency, same with the irises/pupils. However I also ran into two extra alpha masks shaped around their eyewhites; even when inverted, the masks do not seem to look correct on the graphics unless the game's engine utilizes them in some weird way, so I just left them separate. The graphics without the masks basically look as they do in-game though, so there shouldn't be any problems. If anyone happens to know what these masks might be for, please let me know!
