IMO, this is the superior version. The Nintendo version might have more iconic music, but the Tengen version just feels like the "Deluxe" version of Tetris on NES.

This wasn't a bootleg, it was rather a misunderstanding in the licensing of the game. Tengen (Atari) then made this for the NES. IIRC it had to do with Atari 'Obtaining' the rights for it through a deal with one of the PC owners at the time, but what the Soviets meant by '...and other types of computers' when giving the computer license agreement simply meant other computers than the Apple II and IBM. However, this was interpreted to include consoles, and then the rights were 'given' to Atari. Eventually, yes this version was recalled, but it does not mean it was a bootleg.
This is pretty close to the Atari arcade game.
