The laser sounds like a microwave

That laser is shooting slightly forwards. Technology like that must be expensive.
Probably too expensive to run the instakill laser. That's the only logical excuse I can come up with.
If Robotnik can build a laser that can insta-kill Sonic no matter how many rings he has, why shouldn't he use this technique in the future to beat him?
