@lanceypantsy17: I see what you did there with Roller.

Metal Sonic from Knuckles Chaotix: Metal Sonic Kai
Giant Metal Sonic from Knuckles Chaotix: Titan Metal Sonic
Rocket Metal Sonic from the opening of Sonic Championship: Mecha Sonic Model No.29

Also the Mecha Sonic in a tank from Sonic Adventure, the 2P (or 1P in PC) secret cheat robot skins from Sonic Heroes, and those playable robots from Sonic Colors.

K lemme just make a list to remind myself of these names:
Robot Sonic in Sonic CD: Metal Sonic
Robot Sonic in Sonic 2 GG: Silver Sonic
Robot Sonic in Sonic 2 MD: Meca Sonic
Robot Sonic in Sonic 3 & Knuckles: Mecha Sonic
Metal Sonic's other dimensional counterpart: Metal Sonic 3.0
That blue rolling enemy from Sonic 1: Roller
Annd that's it, right?

Indeed. Ken Penders's (or at least, it was probably his) stupidity is probably one of the main reasons so many people misidentify this as Silver Sonic.

Don't bring comics into this, that is a whole other can of worms.
May 19, 2018, 7:02 PM
I think this is settled.
May 15, 2018, 1:45 AM
Silver Sonic was the name given to the one from the Master System game.
May 14, 2018, 5:51 PM
@kameronsonic Except it was only "Silver Sonic" in cruddy fancruft. The original name, as seen by below concept art, is "Meca Sonic."
May 14, 2018, 4:25 PM
it's silver sonic the original name
Apr 16, 2018, 5:45 AM
I knew it was Meca Sonic!
Apr 9, 2018, 4:02 AM
@MarioMaster666 Have fun being wrong then. You do you. Just don't spread lies to others.
Apr 8, 2018, 3:11 PM
What ever his name really is, he will always be known as Silver Sonic to me.
Apr 5, 2018, 12:50 AM
I'd be fine with Meca Sonic, since there wouldn't be too much confusion with Mecha Sonic from S3&K.

I'll leave this here in case there are any other arguments about the proper name for this boss:
Nov 23, 2017, 1:45 AM
@Deathbringer Yeah. That's the Scrambled Egg Zone Sonic robot. "The Silver Sonic," according to the manual.
Nov 23, 2017, 12:53 AM
Technically Silver Sonic was only ever used as the name for the enemy in the 2nd Sonic game for the Master System.
Nov 23, 2017, 12:39 AM
@Akira There isn't a single guide to call this robot Silver Sonic. You know why? Because this robot ISN'T Silver Sonic. Calling this robot Silver Sonic was a stupid fan nickname from the early-mid 2000's that's never been official. The ONLY Silver Sonic is the Scrambled Egg Zone one.
Nov 22, 2017, 9:35 PM
And that little guy from Scrambled Egg is probably a proto.type of Silver of just Silver 1.0, and this is Silver Sonic 2.0 or something
Well, all that i can tell is : As far as i remember, his and the little guy on Scramblod Egg's names are Silver Sonic.

Meh, i guess it was just a typo or somethin' and i'm just a big ol' dumbo. :\

@Dov Von Schmeltwick
Eh, i mean the book has some never before seen concept art in it, so... I think it is? I don't know... :/ But i just found it on the Sonic 2 concept art part of the book. It was a little sketch of mecha sonic and it was called "Mech Sonic".
Sep 10, 2017, 1:33 PM
His name is "Wire-Faced Sonic" as shown in the official Sonic cookbook from 1995.
Sep 10, 2017, 4:11 AM
@Hans Cuff
Is that in any way endorsed by SEGA? It's not on Sonic Wiki. In fact, it says the official Sonic 4 website called it "Mecha Sonic" in its backstory section.
Sep 10, 2017, 3:17 AM
His real name is "Mech" Sonic. it's in the Cook and Becker sonic art book.

EDIT: I'm wrong.
Sep 1, 2017, 9:26 PM
I know. My point was if you were using a recent, but non-canon source, there's even more recent equally-non-canon sources.
Sep 1, 2017, 9:25 PM
It's not like the Archie comics are canon either.

But whatever. I'll just put all three names in the title.
