J - Backwards L-Shape, Blue in Color.
L - Forwards L-Shape, Orange in Color.
O - Square, Yellow in Color.
S - Right Snake, Green in Color.
T - T-Shape, Purple in Color.
Z - Left Snake, Red in Color.

A guide for those who need clarification on which letter is which block:
I = Line
J = Backwards "L"
L = Exactly what you think it is
O = Square
S = Zigzag pointing upright
T = Do I even need to say it
Z = Zigzag pointing upleft

@Jod Dan: They represent which shapes utilize those tiles.
Why are there letters?
You may notice, due to the game boy's lack of color, each block is a different sprite.
