@Roadconian: As with most baked things, the main reason most likely is speed. I think another reason is that you can apply effects/changes to sprites that would've otherwise been tedious to make function with models. Also images (aspecially with todays' even lossless compression) are pretty light, relatively to other parts of the game. But I'm also no game-design-something-whatever-ologist, so take what I said with enough salt to cause hypernatremia. |
