| Oct 9, 2017 8:11 PM | LooneyTunerIan | Asset: Magikoopa | Wasn't there supposed to be Multi-Colored Magikoopas in Minion Quest? As I as I know, there's Red, Yellow, Green and Gray. |
| Oct 9, 2017 8:01 PM | ShyGuyXXL | Asset: Yo Bro | I'm really happy with this one. ^^ |
| Oct 9, 2017 7:59 PM | Fawfulthegreat64 | Asset: Designbomb | Nope, I cleared that minigame 100% in the remake, it's the same as the original :P |
| Oct 9, 2017 7:49 PM | ShyGuyXXL | Asset: Bowser | @zeweirdmaster If you're talking about the cardboard cut-out, yes, that's still in the game and it's probably the most accurate recreation of any of this game's sprites. Almost looks like they just took the original sprite and painted over it. |
| Oct 9, 2017 7:44 PM | ShyGuyXXL | Asset: Queen Bean | I seem to be seeing a lot of repeated sprites in these sheets. What's up with that? |
| Oct 9, 2017 7:35 PM | Neros Urameshi | Asset: Lady Lima | You forgot the "Fake Lady Lima" (Cackletta) laughing sprites from the beginning of the M&L game. The ones facing right, that is. |
| Oct 9, 2017 7:34 PM | ShyGuyXXL | Asset: Hermie III | It's crazy that all of these are individual sprites, instead of splitting up the shell and body parts into seperate pieces that are animated together. That would save a TON of memory. So much space is wasted with the same shell sprite. |
| Oct 9, 2017 7:26 PM | ShyGuyXXL | Asset: Dry Bones | My headcanon is that once, there was a race war between the bipedal and quadrupedal Troopeas. All the quadrupedal Troopeas got rounded up, brought into the desert and killed by the more powerful bipedal Troopeas. Now, the souls of the innocent quadrupeds roam the desert in the form of restless, sun-bleached skeletons, in search of peace, revenge, or simply closure, while the descendants of the bipedal Troopeas live happily around Beanbean Castle, in blissful ignorance of their families' dark history. Meanwhile, in a different timeline, the quadrupedal Troopeas decided to sign a peace treaty with the bipeds, and the bipeds simply decided to migrate into a different country. This was the timeline of the GBA version. So yes, Nintendo has created a timeline of war, death, and restless souls. ....in my headcanon. ^^ |
| Oct 9, 2017 7:21 PM | LooneyTunerIan | Game: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions | Hey! Some of those sheets don't have the enemies as shown in the icons! Like the Boomerang Bro and Dry Bones sheets, they're just showing some sheet of a Jellyfish Girl! |
| Oct 9, 2017 7:19 PM | LooneyTunerIan | Asset: Dry Bones | This isn't Dry Bones. |
| Oct 9, 2017 6:59 PM | DigitalDiamal | Game: Du Shen Zhi Meng Huan Poker (Bootleg) | This made me wonder... Is there a ROM of this game somewhere online? Cause I barely see any gameplays on this.. |
| Oct 9, 2017 6:48 PM | ShyGuyXXL | Asset: Ankoopa | @Doc Well, here's my version: https://shyguyxxl.deviantart.com/art/Fat-Koopa-Re-Fatted-708881204 |
| Oct 9, 2017 6:22 PM | LakituBro | Asset: Mario & FLUDD (Super Princess Peach-Style) | Okay but why does the icon for this look like Mario's trippin' balls? I'm sorry, it just does. |
| Oct 9, 2017 5:29 PM | LooneyTunerIan | Game: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions | @FawfultheGreat64 I didn't know the Mother Pirhana's tentacles are models. Can you show me through a screenshot or a video? |
| Oct 9, 2017 5:04 PM | supersmashball | Asset: Vs. Wily | @N-Mario Yeah, I see it! |
| Oct 9, 2017 4:57 PM | supersmashball | Asset: 1 Day of Kirby & Secretary Susie (JPN) | @15KnucklesLover Me too. Although 3DS modding is STILL possible, so you still have a chance. If you want any of the ACTUAL theme files, shoot me a PM. |
| Oct 9, 2017 4:37 PM | MamaLuigee | Game: Virus (Dr. Mario Prototype) | Wow! It's finally on here! I love Dr. Mario! |
| Oct 9, 2017 4:30 PM | OnslaughtIsCool | Game: Du Shen Zhi Meng Huan Poker (Bootleg) | Thats not sonic, thats my own original oc, C H R O N I C |
| Oct 9, 2017 4:25 PM | TailsTheFoxYT | Asset: Badniks (Plus) | @Dolphman I think he means a version of splats found in debug mode which doesn't or look like the inky version. |
| Oct 9, 2017 4:21 PM | TailsTheFoxYT | Asset: Level Objects | There is a sphere object in green hill zone that can be found via debug mode, is it only objects you can see in normal play. |
| Oct 9, 2017 4:08 PM | OnslaughtIsCool | Game: Syd of Valis | this game looks interesting |
| Oct 9, 2017 3:55 PM | Xingularity | Asset: Bowser | Oh yeah, is there a Fake Bowser sprite in this game, just as the original did? |
| Oct 9, 2017 3:21 PM | TryyalAzureboarder | Asset: Bartz (Super Mario Maker-Style) | @Nova thanks man! |
| Oct 9, 2017 2:58 PM | ShyGuyXXL | Asset: Ankoopa | @Doc But this was 2003, not 1985. But who cares. To me they will always just be "those big, fat, doofy Koopas from Superstar Saga". ...who later got generified in the remake. I'll make my own take on this character when I get the time. |
| Oct 9, 2017 2:42 PM | Doc von Schmeltwick | Asset: Ankoopa | Because everyone makes mistakes, and this company also called three separate enemies from the same game "King Bill" at one point. Still, they're licensed by Nintendo. Also "Mushroom Person" actually was an early English name for Toads back when "Toad" only referred to the character. |
| Oct 9, 2017 2:36 PM | Xingularity | Asset: Bowser | Will his sprites in Minion Quest be added as well? (The scene where he looks up and sees Captain Goomba about to fall on his head) |
| Oct 9, 2017 2:35 PM | ShyGuyXXL | Asset: Ankoopa | @Doc Maybe it was a mistake. I'm just not convinced. I mean why would they just call it "Turtle" anyway? That's like calling a Toad "Mushroom Person". Or calling a Piranha Plant "Venus Flytrap". It just screams not canon. |
| Oct 9, 2017 2:23 PM | Xingularity | Game: Mario & Luigi: Dream Team | I just realized, where are the Dream World sprites? Some of them like Kamek wearing Peach's dress aren't present in any of these sprite sheets |
| Oct 9, 2017 2:21 PM | Doc von Schmeltwick | Asset: Mecha-Koopa | Guess it's time for someone to fan-sprite Mecha-Chomp for this game and maybe hack it in? |
| Oct 9, 2017 2:20 PM | Doc von Schmeltwick | Asset: Ankoopa | @ShyGuyXXL But it's capitalized..... |
| Oct 9, 2017 1:49 PM | Fawfulthegreat64 | Game: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions | I suspect that some characters have very low-poly models that are only used for dynamic lighting on the sprites. How do I suspect this? Well, on a few instances characters have barely any lighting at all--- so they're pretty much silhouettes. Example- Bowletta when she first rises from the Clown Car. I thought the lighting on that silhouette was ugly and resembled an N64 model. They should've stuck with a silhouette sprite like in the original. Fawful as well, before the spotlight appears before his battle, he looks like a N64 model (and I noticed a dark version of his sprite here, why didn't they just use that it looks better) Models besides Cackletta Soul and Bowser's Castle I know of are Mom Piranha's tentacles when she's swiping you with them, and Bowletta's face when it's shown up close after Bowser is possessed (that also looks really unpolished for a Nintendo game) |
| Oct 9, 2017 1:04 PM | Snessy the Duck | Asset: Designbomb | @Fawfulthegreat64 Maybe they were added in the remake? |
| Oct 9, 2017 12:19 PM | ShyGuyXXL | Asset: Goomdiver | The only visual Super Mario Land 2 reference in a looooooong time. |
| Oct 9, 2017 12:15 PM | ShyGuyXXL | Asset: Oucher Glass | Good to see these guys didn't get scrapped. |
| Oct 9, 2017 12:10 PM | ShyGuyXXL | Asset: Mecha-Koopa | You recycled piece of chomp shit! |
| Oct 9, 2017 11:19 AM | ShyGuyXXL | Asset: Chuckleroot's Granddaughter | I like her design... but now it doesn't fit her grandfather anymore. It's like they made her first, before deciding they wanted to redesign Chuckleroot, but then they never went back and redesigned her to fit him. |
| Oct 9, 2017 11:17 AM | ShyGuyXXL | Asset: Chuckleroot | Gotta admit... not a fan of this redesign... |
| Oct 9, 2017 11:17 AM | ShyGuyXXL | Asset: Chuckleroot | @Trainboy I'm guessing this is not a seperate sprite, but a color filter layered over these sprites. |
| Oct 9, 2017 11:07 AM | ShyGuyXXL | Asset: Ankoopa | @Doc According to Mario Wiki, the Prima Guide just says "A giant Turtle blocks the passage to a cave to the right of the watering hole." That's a description, not a name. That's like saying "Near Hoohoo Village there's a fan-powered piggy bank that spits out coins and mushrooms." But that wouldn't mean the thing's canonical name is Piggy Bank. It's just a term that the writer came up with on the spot, to describe it. So maybe the japanese guide is similar. Maybe it's just called Nokonoko since they didn't have a more specific name for it. Technically it is a Koopa (I just say Koopa without Troopa for simplicity sake) but that's like calling a Laser Snifit a Snifit, it's not incorrect, it's just oversimplified. I can't read japanese so I wouldn't know the context. BUT NONE OF THIS MATTERS! Even if their names were Koopoopadoopas, that still doesn't change the fact that they look the way they look. If they were supposed to look like normal big Koopas, they would've made them look like normal big koopas. But they didn't. You keep calling them ugly, but I don't get how that's a bad thing in the case of these fat Koopoopadoopas. They're supposed to look this way. It's not like they look doofy because the artist was bad at their job or they made them doofy by accident. They were designed this way. This even reflects in their dialog. They repeatedly go "durr" in their dialog, which is a stereotypical fat dumb person "sound". It's like when Marilyn of the Shadow Sirens goes "guh" all the time. And even if they didn't make them look doofy in this remake and only made them fat, what would be so bad about that? |
| Oct 9, 2017 10:37 AM | ShyGuyXXL | Asset: Bloat | He's not fat, he's just big-boned. :D |
