This is 100% the most obscure Mega Man custom sheet on this site. Good job! Wish they did something with this character. |

@RiffOsci: I'm not blaming you for that in this instance, I've seen that kind of thing happen from time to time. I'm moreso talking about the one who approved it, as those kinds of mistakes would normally get caught *before* they show up on the site... |

@Random Talking Bush Just a mistake, okay? |

The graphics for System Sega games are almost entirely compressed and can't be viewed in MAME |

@That guy: No it's not, Wheatley is a completely different character. And an actual sphere. Besides, Halo was released a decade before Portal 2 was. |

For the time being, I've reverted this submission back to its September 13th 2021 revision. I'm not even going to ask how that was approved in the first place. |

I’m proud of this one because adding that gray background was tough. He has black hair and the white slash marks from the sword so it was a lot of manual recoloring. |

64 original characters in the gacha; 8 for each of the 8 class/weapon types. I love the character design. |
Sep 13, 2022, 4:55 AM | Dolphman | Game: Space Harrier |
@Yawackhary. The sprite viewer is how I ripped these. The program seems to only read sprites and nothing else. (Cinematics and level art) When browsing Altered Beast. Moldy Snail (Third level boss) strangely doesn't appear in the data at all, so he must be tileset data or something. I really should get to ripping the Harrier himself and environmental props effects and Uriah. (There's also unused objects in the data with no confirmed palettes) |
Sep 13, 2022, 4:10 AM | Yawackhary | Game: Jim Power: The Lost Dimension in 3D |
@Alefy San Marketing term from the publisher Electro Brain and only on the SNES, basically the game came with red and blue glasses that you put on having a primitive 3D effect from the background scrolling. Those glasses are similar to what people wore in cinemas in the 1950s for "3D" movies. People didn't like this version because the parallax scrolling goes the other direction compared to most games. The original game that came out on all sorts of systems just called the game Jim Power in Mutant Planet. |
Sep 13, 2022, 3:55 AM | Yawackhary | Game: Space Harrier |
@MegaDrive2000 Despite being a classic (Space Harrier will always be a classic to me), the old Sega arcade games are a bit harder to rip. The sprites don't show up in MAME that is the go to emulator for ripping arcade games. So you only have two options, both not the easiest to use due to requiring knowing command line. One is find a ROM interleaver and merge some ROMs so the graphics show up in TileGGD (this is what I think Ragey did) and the second is a little bit easier where you get the list of ROM addresses from MAME via their source code then you run Sega System 16 Sprite Viewer. Even then unless it is Out Run, you have to recolor the sprites but just checked and there's an update that supports some palettes for the more popular games. Due to the palettes, it is only more recently that Space Harrier can be ripped with the correct palette. |

Sep 13, 2022, 2:55 AM | Smoke-The-Pyroling | Game: Sonic Eraser (JPN) |
Could be because it's the bare minimum of what can even be considered a Sonic Game. I mean the only Sonic part about it is the name, and Sonic himself, everything else is not very Sonic. |
Sep 13, 2022, 2:38 AM | Topaz Light | Game: Dragon Quest 5 (JPN) |
@Mooshry Most likely just because the original SNES version of Dragon Quest V is so overshadowed in people's minds by the remake available on DS and mobile devices. I honestly can't speak to qualitative differences between the versions, since I myself have only played the DS one, but it is a shame that more of the SNES original's sprites haven't been ripped. |

Sep 12, 2022, 3:09 PM | Yawackhary | Game: Super Mario World 64 (Bootleg) |
@Magic Mike Matei Another stage had one of themes from TaleSpin IIRC. The developers took whatever music was in other games and not really bothered following the songs from the original game. Since it used GEMS, there is a LOT of choice that they could have stole from. (As a note: Super Mario World on that list is the Squirrel King bootleg and Super Mario 98 is also Sonic Jam 6, SMW 64 isn't on the list). Usually bootlegs use the Data East High Seas Havoc or the Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair sound engines but at least try to do original songs, even the covers at least are rearranged... This means that this game is worse than most bootlegs in sound since the GEMS sound engine to put it lightly is kind of crap with a few highlights (not as bad as Sound Images or Steve Hayes [EA Marble Madness, Lotus Turbo Challenge] though, those hurt your ears)... |

Palette swapping might be the only answer to a patch. Here's my take on how a censored version could work.![]() It sorta makes it closer to his redesign. |
Sep 12, 2022, 6:45 AM | Deathbringer | Sheet: Wham Bam Rock |
Changing palette for the Virtual Console just required making a patch to change a variable for it, changing sprites would be more work to put in for just a re-release. |
