Even if the MUGEN engine could be ported and considering how old it is doubtful but possible, the licensing would be impossible (it has characters from all 3 of the console platforms so there would have to be console exclusive characters yes... even the likes of Crash Bandicoot and Olaf are now Microsoft and even a few that are a rights issue such as Hatsune Miku who is not strictly a gaming IP and especially Pang as Mitchell no longer exists [Capcom, Rising Star Games, Hudson now Konami, Ocean and DotEmu all claimed at one point to have the game or IP]. I don't even know if EA own Overlord...). Thinking about it at this climate we are lucky to get the past few Smash Bros. games as they will be a problem in the future. It doesn't stop a spiritual successor game with original characters getting made though. |

Because they have a LOT of licensing issues to deal with if they didn't get the original licenses (which would be impossible considering how many characters there are) for these characters |
