The fact that this guy is unused pretty much proves that there was gonna be a proper grenade system - like in every other Build game - but it was scrapped. There is a hotkey for selecting Force and Stun grenades, and unused graphics for a grenade Force Charge weapon, but in-game the grenades act as inventory items.
This guy is actually unused, he only ever appears as a Hologram, which only plays an attack animation and fades away after being shot
