The entire spritesheet in general reminds me of Knuckles' Chaotix

You can, all the sheet asks is that you credit SEGA (which shouldn't be too hard since it shows up on start by default) but why use ripped Metal Sonic sprites when the very same sprites are already in the game you're modding?

Can I use this for a sonic mania mod
Nov 4, 2018, 8:58 PM
Metal Sonic is now a big boy.

I just realized I forgot Generations, for Sonic Generations I'd say the original Metal Sonic with upgrades, speaking of which, according to the Sonic Retro wiki page, here's his specs (whether it's Metal Sonic or Metal Sonic Kai, and If he's been upgraded or not is unknown):
Outer Armor
Strength Enhanced Navy Blue Metal Tektite

Main Computer
Artificial Intelligence ROBOTNIK Custom Chip
Internal CPU has a conversation system capable of high mathematical logic enactment. At the slightest sign of danger, the neuron connections simultaneously inform each section of the body to correspond. In short, this allows him to react quickly to certain situations.

Sub Computer
The power control system is governed by the Neo Super FX DSP Chip (which has a 5 link system connecting to each section of the body). The TV picture imaging compensation unit is the Next Risk Chip Series 3 Model (each eye has an 8 link system utilizing RGB imaging).

Main Engine
255 cc, 4 Valve Organ Fusion Engine

Maximum Output: 55ps/6800rpm

Maximum Torque: 7.54 kg-m/4000rpm

Secondary Engine
Tesla Power Coil, which produces electricity by means of electro-magnetic induction
Maximum Output: 256kW

Better, though I'm dubious of LEGO's take myself.
Oct 26, 2018, 7:54 PM
Here's how I see it:
Sonic 2 GG: Silver Sonic
Sonic 2: Robo Sonic
Sonic CD: Metal Sonic
Sonic 3 & Knuckles: Mecha Sonic
Knuckles' Chaotix: Metal Sonic Kai
Sonic Adventure: Mecha Sonic and Metal Sonic Kai in the process of being upgraded
Sonic Heroes: An upgraded Metal Sonic Kai
Sonic 4: the original Metal Sonic
Sonic Mania: an upgraded Metal Sonic Kai and an upgraded Silver Sonic
Sonic Forces: Metal Sonic created with the Phantom Ruby

Oh no, I’m not disputing that. I meant that the name Silver Sonic for the Genesis version of the robot came from the Archie comics. The one in the MS/GG version is the true Silver Sonic.
Oct 13, 2018, 4:11 AM
The phrase "the Silver Sonic" was in the MS/GG version's instruction book for this robot. Trust me, I've read it many times. At the very least, I know for a fact it was in the GG version's.

@Doc the term “Silver Sonic” actually came from the Archie comics, which the community later adopted.
Sep 22, 2018, 11:02 PM
@buc Incorrect. The original Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Master System had the only Silver Sonic, who appeared slightly-redesigned en masse in Sonic Mania. The one in the Genesis game is Mec(h)a Sonic. Keep old fanfic ideas out of this.

ok for clarification
metal sonic from cd is the original metal sonic and is the most famous
grey metal sonic from sonic 2 is silver sonic
metal sonic from sonic 3& knuckles is mecha sonic
grey metal sonic form the game gear is also silver sonic but a different silver sonic bu ti like to called him "game gear silver sonic"

@Domino OK then. I can't hold anything against Gallagher, his stories were just so lovably cutesy-yet-rascally.
Aug 8, 2018, 2:55 PM
The first use of the name Silver Sonic for that robot was in Sonic Quest #3, written by Mike Gallagher in 1996, and the robot (and all later versions) were consistently named that throughout the entire run.

@Os42 Well given the amount of time between Pocket Adventure and LEGO Dimensions, it's possible that that's not gonna happen. At the very least, I'll be happy as long as they don't try to claim it's "Silver Sonic." I believe it was Penders who initially made that mistake, though I could be wrong.
Aug 7, 2018, 10:14 AM
@Sanic Hodgeheg According to the Sonic level pack in Lego Dimensions, The death egg robot sonic is called "Robo Sonic". This should of course be taken with a pinch of salt, since the game is non-canon, but i expect it will be the official name starting from its next appearance.

ohh-ho-ho-ho, I'm going to love making sprite edits and customs with Giga Metal!
Jul 18, 2018, 7:41 PM
"Metal Sonic Kai," as Tailikku pointed out, is actually the generic Metal Sonic in KC, anyways. "Kai" simply means "rebuilt."

(Dagnabbit am I gonna have to start holding seminars over misnamed Sonic robots here again?)
Jul 18, 2018, 7:12 PM
Yes. Giga Metal is the name used within the game’s files, so that is the official name for this form.
Jul 18, 2018, 6:13 PM
"giga metal"?
Jul 18, 2018, 2:43 PM
Thanks you for the Metal Sonic Kai! :D
Mar 30, 2018, 5:05 PM
Problem is, Sonic 2 8-bit came first, and its robot was the only one ever explicitly called "Silver Sonic" outside of comics.
Mar 30, 2018, 4:36 PM
I think these should be the canon names for these bots so we don't cause confusion,
Sonic 2(16bit): Silver Sonic
Sonic 2(8bit/GG): Bionic Sonic/GG Silver Sonic
Sonic CD:Metal Sonic (obviously)
Sonic 3&K: Mecha Sonic..... (and knuckles)
Sonic Adventure(unused)Sonic Robot: Silver Sonic MKII
Dec 29, 2017, 2:37 AM
"Death Egg Meca Sonic" would be a cool name for the 16-Bit one.
