A few of the colours do match what old Genesis emulators used to have especially regarding the greys and a shade of red but the rest were different. Back then it would have been either a gut feeling regarding the palette or compared to screenshots. Also since Amy had become a regular Sonic character, the only easy access games emulation wise would have been the Advance and the Game Gear games (Sonic CD was not as easy to access, had to either have the PC port or a physical copy on hand or had a pretty large hard drive of the day after taking a long time to find and download the game, those 700MB disc games were brutal), even then the palette doesn't match those either... Funnily enough Tyson Hesse's originals of these edits do match the early MD palette spot on. Whether he did it himself or Dioxaz (who I believe was one of the first who really pushed for PNGs) who had done the palette conversion, the latter I believe hosted some Sonic artwork back in the day. |
