Seems like this was originally a Sonic SatAM inspired hack.

It'd be sick if someone made a Mania hack that gave Sonic the moves and speed from this ROM hack.
What's weird is that the sprites of Sonic holding a ring look more original than the used ones, and less like edited Sonic 3 sprites.
@You Gotta be Joshing me No, if you scroll below, someone clearly stated there was a ring mechanic that acted like infinite speed shoes, these sprites are quite obviously used for that mechanic.
The unused sprites resemble the Combi-Ring from Knuckles Chaotix, was it possible that this hack was originally going to have the Combi-Ring as a mechanic?
@SonicHex: Thank for answering my question! I just thought that they may have been reused from a different frame, but I guess not... Oh well!
@Super Phanto, i tried it in-game it just shows some garbled pixels instead in the missing parts, so probably garbage data that overwrote the sprites
Why is the third frame going from right to left in the top row of the unused section missing most of Sonic's body?
Nice job on adding the unused frames.
i see someone saw my screenshots, the unused abillity can be accessed with debug mode
