maybe because softimage 3d had ended up getting discontinued and was superseded by another program, they couldn't be able to make a new render for that one thing alone.
Looking at this made me realize, they never made a Super Sonic model for promotional or FMV purposes. You'd think Super Sonic would appear in the intro like Perfect Chaos does, but I guess not. Odd. Understandable, I guess. Still odd. Metal Sonic I understand because he was added in DX after those models would've been stored away. They probably could've used the Metal Sonic model from Heroes' FMV but- wait a minute, why am I overthinking this, these are pngs for achievements.
