It's because it's not a "real" Pokémon, and is the result of garbage data being read. Even though it's iconic to the first generation, we can't accept customs of it for the same reason we can't accept customs of other glitch characters.

Is there a reason for MissingNo being absent? I ask cause I do wish to make some custom sprites of the character

There’s a surprising amount of official Pokémon Media that mentions and or showcases them, be it Nintendo Power, some official strategy guides, it’s small cameo in one of the Scarelt and Violet trailers and it’s Beyond the Pokédex episode it shared with Magmar

as Random Talking Bush said, It was split due to the tremendous ammount of customs made for it.

codingboy54 Aug 14, 2026 5:07 PM

out of pure curiosity, are MissingNo. customs allowed in gen 1 customs? i'd imagine not, but im still curious nonetheless

CreeperJaxon Jul 11, 2026 6:29 AM

why is this not just merged with pokemon customs?

Three?? Whats the third one?

ProjectXOR Sep 26, 2025 9:43 PM

hey, would it be allowed to upload MissingNo (#000) sheets? Because I'm working on a PMD sprite sheet for it

Haek Feb 3, 2025 10:20 PM

It's me or JoshR uploaded new sheets?

mario121 Mar 18, 2024 8:06 PM

I feel like there should be a separate category for "Green" - the prototype Female Trainer planned back in Gen 1, since I think she'd be distinct enough from the remake's Leaf trainer. Green also appeared in the Let's Go! Gen 1 remakes and seems to share a similar design with the prototype design

Greenknight9000 Sep 18, 2023 3:04 PM

Pokémon is so big that they needed 3 separate customs for custom sprites.

MadeKillaSam Sep 12, 2023 11:08 AM

wheres parasect?

I wanna be the very best, the best there ever was

Noah the Garryfish May 11, 2023 8:33 PM

so would alolan forms count as "gen 1" because they're all reimaginings of gen 1 pokémon?

eeveevee Feb 23, 2023 3:22 AM

We know but she still counts because it's supposed to be a reimagining of gen 1.
Plus, if I recall correctly she was actually supposed to be in the original version of red and blue.

shadowman44 Feb 3, 2023 3:53 AM

hey so uh, Leaf was introduced in gen 3.

eeveevee Feb 3, 2023 3:06 AM

@ValisEmma: They're all prefixed with their Pokédex numbers for the sake of organization, to keep things consistent with the way the games have them set up. And even if they weren't, you could always find the specific one you're looking for using CTRL+F (Find) in your browser.

Random Talking Bush

Jan 26, 2023 7:08 PM

I think it's just supposed to indicate which number Pokemon it is or something.

JonGandee Jan 26, 2023 5:52 PM

why do all the pokemon have numbers at the start of their name?
