| May 31, 2025 3:35 PM | Doc von Schmeltwick | Game: Sega Ages 2500 Series Vol. 17: Phantasy Star Generation: 2 (JPN) | Really tragic, Phantasy Star IV remains one of the best RPGs ever made. I wish SEGA didn't go the friggin' MMO route regarding Phantasy Star. |
| May 31, 2025 3:23 PM | DragonBreath | Game: Final Fantasy V | where is the black magic casting effect? |

| May 31, 2025 2:41 PM * | MollyChan | Asset: Rouge, Ondore, & Hierre (Pokémon G/S/C-Style) | To the right, to the left, in utter darkness, the twentieth century draws to a close. If injustice runs rampant in the west, we'll run in and crush it to smithereens. If evil throws its weight around in the east, we'll tap its shoulder and ask it to stop. In the Heisei period, there are three stars that shine with brilliance and radiance: We are the proud... Flower Detective Trio! |
| May 31, 2025 2:27 PM | Yawackhary | Asset: Mobo & Robo | @JeraldAnimator23 Nope. These are the originals. The Genesis version was a cutdown port of the game missing stages, features and graphical effects as well as a bad translation and depending on version, censorship. The graphics were redrawn looking "flatter". Even the music has a bug losing the instruments on the Bonanza Brothers Duty song over time. Sega outsourced this one to ITL who usually do Taito ports that are cut down with missing stages/characters/features. Sadly it is also the most well known version... Outside of the arcade original, the Sharp X68000 and PC Engine versions are pretty good with the former looking pretty close to the arcade. The PS2 version in Sega Classics Collection is also a good version. |
| May 31, 2025 2:08 PM | Yawackhary | Game: Sega Ages 2500 Series Vol. 17: Phantasy Star Generation: 2 (JPN) | @Doc Yep, it was Japan only. I believe there were plans for the Phantasy Star remakes to be released as a compilation in the US but it never happened. Besides the reception of the remakes in general caused Sega to change to the emulation/port approach with M2 with the Fantasy Zone II remake bundled in with some of the games being the last thing in the line. The only thing out of the PS2 Sega Ages line that came out in the US and Europe on the console was Sega Classics Collection. A collection of some of the remakes with Alien Syndrome had to be dropped in PAL regions due to Germany. It was also the first time that Tant-R and Ichinant-R were translated too. Eventually the Galaxy Force II port and the Fantasy Zone II remake were released further down the line on the 3DS but that's another story. |

| May 31, 2025 1:09 PM | Doc von Schmeltwick | Game: Sega Ages 2500 Series Vol. 17: Phantasy Star Generation: 2 (JPN) | Pretty sure this was Japan-only, unfortunately. In America at least, Sony was anal about not releasing any non-3D games. Of course, that still was their most successful era. |
