| Jul 9, 2025 6:17 PM | Yawackhary | Asset: Metal Sonic | @Bumper Top Murphmario's explanation is spot on. If you look here at the concept art, Metal Sonic's eyes were grey. Meaning both the concept art drawing of Metal Sonic and the sprites both have grey eyes. The same for the MC Sonic picture. Probably someone at Sega suggested adding red to Metal Sonic's eyes to make him "evil". One of the animations and DA garden did have Metal Sonic's eyes being red meaning that it must have been a fairly late change and forgot to simply change the sprites. It was still fairly common back in 1993 where the game artwork and what appeared in the game itself didn't always match. |
