@TGS Actually, many, many sprites in SSF2 are actually edited from pre-existing sprites to various degrees, like Kirby's were last I checked. Granted, I haven't looked into that game for probably 6 years, but either way, you're being ridiculously rude, and not taking into account whatsoever advances in technology and technique in regards to spriting between then and now. What may look crappy by today's standards may have taken a crapload of work back then.

i understand where you're coming from but there's a huge diff in what looks like literally edited megaman sprites compared to custom or reworked ssb sprites with a shitton of frames in almost each animation made by like 3 dudes. it's fuckin stupid to compare the two when they're completely different things

old discussion but are you guys *really* gonna hold a grudge on a game that had to have been made almost a decade ago using sprites openly released on this site compared to completely custom sprites made by a team that has every reason not to want them posted online

What that would really mean is they didn't bother to look at the credits, which while not something one needs to do for most games, is pretty reasonable an expectation for fan games just to see where the assets came from.

Well to be perfectly fair, the sprites put on here are, unless specifically stated otherwise, generally seen as being open for use. Still though, that is pretty double standardish.

Correct. They'd be a section for those games. The only reason the Super Smash Flash "rips" are on here are because they took those sprites from TSR in the first place.

It's a GameJolt game, actually. With Petey Piranha and Klonoa as playable characters. But no modes beyond simple versus matches.

Dear peeps,

We KNOW a lot of these are terrible now, but we can't just delete old, crappy sheets without good, new ones to replace them. So please, PLEASE, especially when it comes to Smash, please make us some new sprites. We'll be happy to put them up.

Some of these customs are perhaps some of the earliest that were ever made, a few even from the ninsprites era. Must be at least 14 years old+ are some of them. SemiJuggalo's DK, Tails McCloud and that Bowser were the earliest that I remember. I won't be surprised the Mega Man edits were from that era too.

It just shows how much sprite art has evolved over the years.

@Beanluv You realize those were placed in this section when they were initially uploaded, and as such were OBJECTIVELY intended as Smash Bros. sheets for fan games and stuff, right? I suggest you remove all of your spammy comments, POSTHASTE.

I agree with Murphmario. There are a few random sheets that were just crammed into the Smash Bros. Customs just because said sheets were of a character that was in Smash. Some sheets aren't even based on the Smash Bros. characters, so obviously some of these sheets weren't made with the intent of somebody using them for a Smash Bros. fan game. I think those types of sheets should be removed from the Smash Bros. Customs because of this.

(Just realized there's a bunch of sheets like this, so I'll just post it here so I don't get flagged for posting slightly altered messages.)
