Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful 2015 and that your start to 2016, short as it's been so far, has been great! The first update of the year certainly is - there's lots of awesome new content from a ton of games including Rhythm Heaven, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Awesomenauts, and so much more so check it all out and enjoy.

I'd also like to highlight the new menu to the left - genres. As many of you probably know, we've been hard at work making the site easier and more logical to navigate. One of those changes has been the addition of genres to games and we've finally made enough progress to unveil them. To get started, just click the "Genres" header to switch to genre navigation and browse away! Just be aware that there are still quite a few games that aren't categorized yet (1,365 at the time of this writing) and probably more than a few that are in the wrong section by mistake. Also, while the system is live on the other sites, we haven't categorized much beyond a few tests on anything outside tSR yet so the genre sections are pretty barren there for now.

We have a thread on the forum for feedback but feel free to also leave any comments, suggestions, criticisms, bug reports, or anything else as a comment here as well. Thanks in advance and enjoy!

The issue with that is games with huge volumes of content on each site. However, we do have plans to link to the other sites when a game is available on them. We'll be working to introduce that somewhat soon, but can't promise when. It'll also take some time to fill the data in.

Yeah, that would be nice.

The genres menu is amazing. But one of my proposal is that the games had all the resources of the different pages. That is, each set included a section called according to the resource (ex: Sounds, Textures). I made an image to be more graphic.

Clicking on the resources of the other pages as models, a new tab will open.
I hope you will consider my proposal. Happy New Year :)

We tried to remain pretty generic so as to avoid entire sections with two or three games in them. Everything that doesn't fit into one of the major categories will wind up in "Other" so they won't disappear from the genre section entirely but the list would be completely unwieldy if we included all of the smaller ones. The only reason we did so for consoles is because they're a root-level element of the site's structure as well as the primary way content is organized (and you can see the effects of having a couple of consoles with only one or two games - it doesn't look good).

Great to hear the Categories update has arrived!

Personally I think there should be a few lesser genres added like "Maze" and "Breakout" for games like Pac-Man and Arkanoid respectively.
