Welcome to the Kirby Advance tutorial!
Here I will teach you how to sprite in Kirby Advance style.
Sooooo let's begin!
1) What is KA?
KA stands for Kirby Advance.
Kirby Advance is the sprite style we see in: Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland, Kirby & the Amazing Mirror, and Kirby Squeak Squad.
The style has many shades and is a very bright style, so don't you even dare call it almost 8bit ;3.
2) ENOUGH OF THE TALKING!!! LETS GET TO WORK!
Okokokok! Now we're going to sprite. As an example, I'm going to sprite Pukura.
But for the Non-Kirbynisten under us. A fat balloon guy who gives you the balloon power in KCC (Kirby Canvas Curse).
First you make a line art. (duh)
Here, you can see how I made the Pukura lineart! Now it's your turn :].

3) We've got the line art... And now?
It begins with "S" and ends with "hading". Shading, yes. See I'm funny! Hahahahaa? Uhm...anyways,
now I'm going to shade my Pukura. You're going to have to shade your work too, WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT >:[!
First, we're going to colour it with the base colours. For my Pukura it's yellow for his body & blue for his pants.

4) Shading?
ATTENTION!!! THIS PART IS VERY IMPORTANT!!! If you mess up the shading your sprite isn't going to be KA style.
Yes, but I'll help. Look at Kirby for a reference to see if you're shading correctly. Here are some things you need to remember while shading:
THE SUN IS ALWAYS ABOVE YOU! SO IF YOU SHADE THIS STYLE, THE LOWER SHADES NEED TO BE DARKER AND THE UPPER SHADES LIGHTER.
Or it will look like this.

Another important point.
THERE ARE NO BLACK OUTLINES IN THE SPRITE. THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS ON THE EYES.

You see any black outline in this kirby sprite? I don't. ;D
Now look how well I shaded my Pukura!

Also, again, be sure the shading is correct, look at my Pukura sprite as an example.
And remember, your sprite is not Kirby Advance style if it has black outlines in it.
5) That's it?
Guess so. But what about...no nevermind -^-^-. Yup, thats it. If your sprite comes out good, You learnd KA style!
Think there's still something wrong with your sprite? PM me on Pixeltendo! Or if you aren't on PT, here is my msn, B.rijsoort@planet.nl. Oh, and before I forgot, take a look at the Kirby advance project!
