Hedgehogs as pets?
Does anyone have or had a hedgehog? They look like a lot of fun, and I think I want one for Christmas.

What species/breed would anyone reccomend?

this is rather ironic because the idea of a hedgehog as SEGA's mascot surged because the japanese had a trend of having hedgehogs as pets at the time

seems like a cool pet to have imo, too bad you can't pet him much >:

You can pet the quills when they're down and it won't hurt. They have soft fur though.

Ok, you guys did this joke already, but it's fun anyway.

I'm not so sure about having one. Ok, looks like fun but it looks like that iguana trend some years ago.

I saw this book about having hedgehogs as pets. Pretty cool, and they can be really friendly.
You'll need special licenses or something, though.

Look it up.

Depends on where you are. In the UK you can't have one because they're wild animals here.

I've looked after hedgehogs before since I sometimes get them living in my garden, but that's it.

I don't know about domestic ones, but wild ones smell. Quite a lot :C

Look it up.

It says most states allow it, nothing about Texas. Looks like you need a license to breed them though.

Also, hedgehogs get along well with just about everything, they'll even walk through a pride of lions without fear.

I had a hedgehog when I was about 7. He was pretty mellow, fun to love on, and cute as hell. I'd recommend getting one. Cute

Never owned one, but it sounds pretty fun from the sounds of it.

I ended up researching about it and found out your best bet is to keep it away from a hunting breed of dog and ferrets though, they might have a problem or two when there around each other.

My dogs likes cats and steers clear of frogs, I doubt she will have any problem with a hedgehog.
