The pixel on the back is on the top of the seat, not his head. It's a white, out-of-place pixel that appears for one frame. He says that it appears when his head is completely at the side, not on his head. Tongue

Thank you for the crit, Ridge. I saw the problem as well, but I have yet to work on it >_<
I may as well take this moment to explain why I haven't updated daily like I was before.

1. College is starting again soon, so been getting ready for that.
2. I've been concentrating my time more on paintings as well as digital paintings. Most of them are going to a media gallery(art based on movies, books, video games, etc.), so it's purdy important. Not saying that this isn't, but that stuff takes more time than this. You can catch me working on one of the digital paintings live on Twitch.TV. :B
3. I'm still getting use to graphics gale so I can work on animations in real time, making this project go so much faster.

This is a pretty neat idea for a hack. The thread's kinda long, though, so I apologize if these things have already been addressed, but I have some questions.

Firstly, since I noticed that there's an alternate "Wario over Koopa Troopa" sprite set, would there also be any plans for an alternate "Donkey Kong Jr. over Donkey Kong" sprite set? I'm mostly curious about this, since I've always liked DK Jr. but have noticed the original SMK is the only game he was in (I thought for sure he'd come back when characters like Bowser Jr. and Baby Mario started popping up, but I guess Diddy Kong might be impeding him and I wouldn't be surprised to see Baby DK appear in the series before he ever returns).

The other thing I'm wondering about is whether or not the Wario sprites are just an aesthetic change, or if they'd actually change gameplay (since Wario and Koopa Troopa are in different weight classes).

Just archive binged this entire topic. You've done amazing work here Star, I never expected a reinterpretation of something as...flawed as Super Mario Kart's visuals to look so damn good.

I meant Mario Kart games. Sorry, I kinda worded that wrong by not specifying. ^^;

But, ya, obviously he's been in other games, since he was the titular character of his debut game. Though, in general, I think the last time he was seen was Game & Watch Gallery 4. And the last time he was playable was the N64 Mario Tennis.

Just want to thank everybody for the continued support for Star and his sprites. We're going to meet up this Friday and make some progress on this hack, communicate and see what else is needed. Stifu created a much easier (and better, there's fewer graphical errors) way to extract and insert sprites with his newest version of Epic Edit, so good news there. I'm not going to comment on the rate of completion, since school is being brutal to both of us, but Driver rotations and Starpower Road are the two biggest milestones at the moment.

I also intend to create a forum on one of the holidays about Mario Kart track designing. There's a demand for good courses to be made, so anybody who's interested, I'd absolutely love to have your input Smile

Please note those videos are from last year; a few tracks have been removed, replaced, or updated but I haven't gotten around to making new videos unfortunately. Off the top of my head I know I got rid of Lakitu Lagoon, Spiral Raceway, and Pastel Planet, also re-building E-Tank Trial to be less clusterduck and more "not impossible".
