GraphicsGale Palette Questions
Alright, I'll try to explain this to the best of my abilities.
[Image: hI3vj.png]
What I would like to do is create a custom palette in GG using the colors from Gors' TFR palette so that they will all be right there at my disposal when I'm creating the animations for my character. I have the default palette in GraphicsGale right now, and the only colors I want there are the ones in the TFR palette.
Is there a way to replace all of the colors in the palette only with Gors' colors? I'm new to GraphicsGale, and haven't been able to find any answers elsewhere on the internet, and haven't had any luck myself.

Also, on a slightly related note, whenever I save the animations as gifs for a preview of the animations, this shows up:

And I'm pretty sure it slightly alters the colors. I have the color depth set to "24bpp (full color)", and I'm assuming the gif format doesn't handle full color? I've been using paint, so I haven't really ever had to deal with color depth and palettes before ^^;

So, what I'm asking is:
1. Can I replace the default palette to only the colors in the TFR palette? And if so, how?

2. Can I save a .gif animation while retaining the original colors? Or for some reason, does the color depth have to be decreased? And if so, can I decrease the color depth while retaining the same colors in the TFR palette?

Sorry if this doesn't really make any sense; I have trouble explaining it myself.
Thank you :]

RE: GraphicsGale Palette Questions
Can't help with 1. Has been a while since I messed with GG and it's palettes.

For 2, GIF only supports 256 color palettes so you can't use more than 256 colors per frame. It shouldn't alter the colors, though; if it does, it's GG's fault. GIF palettes store colors with one byte per color channel (R, G, B), if I'm not mistaken, so True Color colors shouldn't be a problem at all (as long as you don't use more than 256 different ones in one frame).

Oh hey I'm back to bring you this: TFR_PALETTE.pal! (Right-Click and Save)
On the palette window in GG, click the downward-pointing arrow directly below the color grid. Choose "Load Palette..." from the popup menu. "Import from File...", choose this .pal file here, select all colors from the loaded one on the left, click the upper-left one on the right grid, "OK" and you should be set with the official TFR palette.

I took the colors from the palette on one of the images in the first post in the official TFR topic.

RE: GraphicsGale Palette Questions
Thank you so much! I got the palette working. I also just tested the colors on the .gifs, and you're right; the colors are the same. I think my eyes were just messing with me because it said that the color depth would be reduced ^^;

RE: GraphicsGale Palette Questions
yeah, when converting the image into a .gif, all it does is assigning all the colors in your animation in the 256-color palette, then fill all the blanks with black. You can notice it when you save a .gif file of something: it'll keep all te original colors and fill the rest with pitch black.

Your jealousy is the speed of my success.
