Need advices for a rpg character sprite sheet

Allright, I started this very simple sprite sheet :

I did the template and a exemple of the final result but I now realise that I have no idea of how I could make the hair in all the 8 direction, nor of how to animate its movements. Also, if someone have something to say to make better shading or anti aliasing...

Could someone help me on that ?

Edit : My problem is principally about making the hair in all 8 directions, I must precise.

Edit 2 : The result is not that awfull, I guess I'll be able to make something, I'll probably search a tutorial for the Idle stand animation.

Do away with the AA, it makes it look blurred.

Color selection needs a little work. Not really my strong point, but I say desaturate it; and the top is a little pillow shaded.

As it stands, its certainly not horrible.
I'm rather curious to see how it animates.

Oh and as another quick thought, try and move away from the solid black outline, it makes it look a little cheap.

thats because you put basically zero thoughs on how does that hair behaves on a 3D enviroment. all you did was drawing a volume-ness shaoe over his head and expected it would work, like most anime hairs.

as it is now, its basically a flat sign pasted over his forehead.
