My opinion on the two is that the second one is a load of garbage, not on account of the other one being Gors' friend, but for several other VERY important reasons (to me, someone very uncultured musically, so my opinion is probably the lowest common denominator).

-It begins with guitar in a trailer for a setting that seems very alien to that sound.
-It is very slow, very repetitive and very boring. It went for an eerie or creepy effect that didn't really stick with me.
-The tone in the video shifts while the music does not.
-Speaking of which, there are no music cues at all where the music changes and matches the action onscreen. The first one did.

I like the first one a lot better. That's just me though, I can't speak for everyone.

it's not a problem for us, Mighty. I just put the link here so you could, at least, listen to the music and know about his situation. No one is being forced to vote at all; in fact, I encourage to vote in any of the entries listed on the main site, even in the chiptune category.

Though also as listener, I also give my opinions on the entries, and explain why they are bad or not. There's a handful of music in that competition that is actually good (mainly in that trailer contest, which also happens to be the most disputed one), as well as piece of garbage sounds like the one I posted: a trailer that focuses on mystical and adventure elements such as the girl with colorful clothing exploring the scenery, runes and imagery, knights shouldn't have electronical, boring and poorly-rendered music at all. Vinicius spent like, two entire days solely to make sure each instrument sample was perfectly masterized so it wouldn't sound scratchy and/or artificial. This is why I prefer his music over that; not only the melody is good, he really outdid himself with that piece.

Finally, orchestral or 'real instrument' music is harder to judge because in my opinion, the quality of the piece ends up falling more on the 'emotion' and 'melody' side. Chiptunes can be emotional, yes, but you can clearly hear the techniques and judge what is hard to make and what isn't, even if you don't know a lot about chiptunes.

Just do what you feel it's right. still puzzled at how you liked that noise but opinions are opinions

That's why I feel bad. I know he worked really hard on it, and I go and post about how I liked the other dude's crappy entry simply because I happen to like higher-tempo music more a lot of the time. I know that's the only reason why I liked it more.
If it makes you feel any better, they were both pretty tied for me at first. Vinicius' music is absolutely amazing. It was calm, soothing, and it kinda sounded like something out of a Zelda game. It was a beauty to listen to (and don't think I forgot about his Sol: The Game arrangement -- I already know his composition skills are brilliant).
All that aside though, I don't think I will vote. You guys deserve better than someone who would vote for your entry just to be nice, and not because they favored your wonderful music over your mediocre competitor...

Sadly, vinicius' song wasn't ranked, which is a shame. I'm grateful, though, for supporting him also. He almost never posts here, but as you already know, he is very talented and despite not winning anything in this compo, I'm sure he'll find better things to work on.
