Sad 3D Ripper DX help please!
Can anyone please help me how to use 3D ripper DX please? I just downloaded it and want to use it to rip models from Prototype. I would really appreciate it.

3D Ripper doesn't work on PS1 or PS2, so I would think it won't work on PS3. I'm not sure if it can rip from XBox. But if you have the PC version, it may work. Also note that 3D Ripper doesn't work with DX10 (Direct X 10) or greater. So if you have the option, make sure to set the emulator or game to DX9 if it's not already.
  • You just open 3D Ripper, at the top choose an exe. If you need an Emulator to play the game, then choose the emulator.
  • Check the boxes that you want in the next section. I use "Capture all textures" and "Also capture to Wavefront .obj", but you don't need the obj if you have 3DS Max.
  • Setup where you want to output the frames, textures and shaders.
  • Click on "Launch".
  • It will start the emulator or the game. If it's the emulator, start the game.
  • Now while the game is running, you should see some text on the top left corner reading "ready to capture" or something. If you don't see that, it's possible the game isn't DX9.
  • When you find a scene with models you want, press F12 or if F12 doesn't work press F11. The game may freeze for a few seconds.
  • Now you can check if the models, textures are in the location you specified earlier, if they are not there, try looking in "C:" and look for a 2.

If any of my model links are dead, look for them here.

RE: 3D Ripper DX help please!
I have the PC version and it uses DX9.
If you export to 3DS MAX, will the models contain their rigging data? Thank you very much for your help!

I don't think so. But I don't have 3DS Max, so I was never able to check.

RE: 3D Ripper DX help please!
3d ripper dx does NOT preserve rigging data. It just captures a static 3d model, no T-posed models or rigging data. If you want to rip a model, make sure it is in its best animation.

Thanks alot guys! By the way, if I rip Alex Mercer, should I rip him using each of his powers (claws, blade, hammer fist, muscle mass, shield, whip, and armor)? Or should I just rip himself?

I just noticed that 3D ripper rips Every single thing that's in the scene. Is there a way to just capture what on the screen?

With Tales of Symphonia, I was ripping the characters, then the weapons would be separate, so no need to redo the character himself, unless there's something that is connected to him.

Nope. You have to delete everything you don't want. If your program has an option to invert selection, then you can select the few things you want to keep, invert selection and delete everything else.

All of Alex mercer's powers change his body in some way (all of his powers except armor involves morphing his arms. His armor power morphs his whole body). Thanks for your helpSmile.
