Saddest videogame moments

I thought this would be an interesting idea for a thread. So yeah, post the saddest moments you've experienced in a video game.
I'm sure that numerous of these will be near the end of the game, and if that's so then be sure to put any comments/videos/pictures about it in a spoiler, with the name of the game you're talking about.

This scene is the absolute saddest I've seen, not only in gaming but anywhere. Never has any movie or other form of media made my eyes truly well up with tears, but this certainly did. I know that's nerdy, but knowing how gentlemanly the professor is, and how much self control he has, his reactions in this bit are absolutely heart wrenching.
Even now, more than a year after initially watching it, my stomach lurches with the sadness in this scene. I still feel deeply for both Claire and Hershel, despite them being fictional.
I know, I'm way too emotional for a guy.

I can't play any Layton game anymore without feeling sorry for him, this ending is indeed really sad, which makes the game even better. I just wish they would play the ending with lyrics instead of instrumental, it's a beautiful song

I can cry watching anime or reading manga, but no so much while playing games. The only time I can think of getting really emotional because of a game was on Disgaea (probably there are more, but I can't remember them now).

When his mom was the red Prinny, that was actually heartwarming. Also, the whole ending of him wanting to sacrifice himself for Flonne, among other things.

The fact that the new games are set before The Curious Village make it OK, but that's still after Claire was killed in the original explosion. It's just that him seeing her in the future, and knowing that she had to go back... that makes it so much worse. I really hate Bill Hawks.
Still, I want to know what happens after that, though. Being the gentleman that he is, Layton would probably get over it fairly quickly (at least on the outside). I recall the final cutscene where Luke goes having a "To be continued" on the end, so I really do hope there are more games, or at least some kind of media, set after the Unwound Future.

As for the music, I think it was fine: all the PL tracks are pure instrumental, and changing this one would be weird. I understand that in most movies, sad scenes like this have one or other solemn song playing, and that people would prefer that. However I like lyric-free music in general, and I think that the music did more than enough, it really fit well.

All of Halo Reach was pretty bad when it comes to depressing scenes.

While I was never brought to tears by video games (though I do give pity at times), I felt pretty damn shameful when I had to fuse my Zuum to "save it" in Monster Rancher 2, or let it die naturally (though I was a kid when this happened). Although the most two obvious things I thought I will see is A: Areis' death, B: Geno's farewell or C: Shadow's past.

PROTIP: Save before the final night phase of a monster's lifespan, that's when you'll know they'll perish before the next daybreak. Freeze then fuse afterwards.

Though, Disgaea has some pretty dick moves throughout the series. Kinda felt bad for Adell in the second game when I instantly realized

That the two masked servants of Zenon were his birthparents, even without having to play the whole game, making it truly ironic that he was a demon to begin with the whole time, and he's fighting to liberate the town that was turned into demons and break the curse.

On a more serious note, games or even anime, no matter how depressing, never get me emotional. But I will admit some parts of Twilight Princess's ending nearly choked me up, so I'd guess that would have to be the saddest ending I ever watched in a game at least, besides Red Dead Redemption's.
