RE: okay imageshack
I still use imageshack solely because when I type "im" into the URL bar my browser auto-completes it.

Filesmelt is great for 1-time quick uploads just to show someone something. But otherwise, they remove their images monthly. I just use whatever is the quickest because I don't like having to set up a bunch of crap for every image I upload.

If I want to show something to someone over IM, I'm using trillian, which lets me copy paste an image into the message box, and it will auto-upload it to the Trillian server. Which is cool.

I use Imgur on forums.

Oh look at how she listens... She says nothing of what she thinks.
She just goes stumbling through her memories staring out onto Grey Street.
But she thinks, "Hey... How did I come to this? I dreamed myself a million times around the world but I can't get out of this place."
There's an emptiness inside her and she'd do anything to fill it in.
And though its red blood bleeding from her now, it felt like cold blue ice in her heart.
When all the colors mix together to grey, and it breaks her heart...

How she wishes it was different... She prays to God almost every night.
And though she swears He doesn't listen, there's a hope in her that he just might.
She says "I pray! Oh, but they fall on deaf ears... Am I supposed to take it on myself to get out of this place?"

imgur is too laggy, don't know why. Currently using min.us, which works fine for me.

I've deleted some duplicates and older stuff from my imageshack account (which is over 7 years old), but I still have over 9000 pictures on it.

RE: okay imageshack
I'm just always worried about the dreaded image darkening that happens with PNGs.

You save a PNG sprite on one of these things and the colors become slightly darker. It becomes a problem overtime if your a part of a sprite collaboration and you edit eachothers works.

With Imageshack I found a way to avoid this by uploading the file as a BMP. Imageshack converts it to PNG when it saves it on the database without altering the colors.

I'm afriad of trying this on other image hosting sites. What if it doesn't work? Our sprites are doomed!

I've heard this before, but I doubt that it's true. How can an image hoster darken the sprites when they don't save any information inside the picture? They just upload and save the pics on their servers.

Some of them do alter the file by using various file size optimization tricks. And some PNG libraries do mess up the palettes. PNG is a really complicated format and some programs tend to have bad size optimization algorithms so those files are likely to be altered to save space.

Imgur or min.us don't do this do they? D:

I haven't noticed any form of color alteration with either of these hosts.

RE: okay imageshack
imageshack and photobucket literally always darkened my colors which made it really terrible back in the pixeltendo days when everyone used one of the other

and when someone edited/made a new sprite for someone elses sheets or something i always had to recolor the entire fucking thing to match with the sprites i had

Ah, ok.

Just tested it with an M&L rip which I've uploaded to imageshack and compared it to the version on my PC. The colours are identical, even my Paint Shop Pro colour counter says so.
