Unless it's taught in one of the smaller colleges, I've yet to see a college offering a porn course in Arkansas.

In fairness, they're usually honors-related courses. I'm taking a course on Jack the Ripper right now, and it's mostly a class on philosophy and logic while using Jack the Ripper as the main example to talk about.

And this Harry Potter course, if I'm reading the article right, is essentially the exact same concept. They're just using Harry Potter as a backdrop for morality and society studies.

I don't understand what exactly is stupid about a course in Pornography. I mean, the pornographic industry is something that has always been around and it is pretty lucrative.

Whole courses about one book just because the one teaching it really fucking loves it just seem pretty dumb to me.

Implying Harry Potter is one book and not an entire series of books that uses symbolism and moral values in order to create a unique and interesting world with which a reader can connect to.

I'm doubting the moral values and symbolism of "racism is bad (but lets only have a couple people of colour ever be important to plot)" and "being gay is alright! I've decided Dumbledore is gay and an excellent role model by never mentioning it ever"

They're pretty alright books and I have to give 'em their due for getting a lot of kids reading, because that's awesome, but they're not exactly DEEP MEANINGFUL LITERATURE.

I want a course that centers around Toy Story, so I can understand the importance of childhood, freindship, and what being a toy is supposed to be about for one year, I got nothing better to do so why the hell not?
