okay so

I *knew* there was a ton of space on my laptop that, because of a few mistakes during its initialization, I was never able to access.

What I thought was that I had at least 600Gb of harddrive space on this thing, but I could only ever access 250Gb of it. Here, I decided to run "partition", and here I am sitting with about 48 gigabytes of unallocated space.

Now, I've come to two problems: first of all, I can't even tell if this laptop of mine is really housing another 300 gigabytes of information, mostly because I have no clue where to dig in this thing to get the right information. Second, I'm not sure if I should reallocate the extra 48 gigabytes that I DID find, since I'm afraid of making this thing explode into a million pieces. Anybody have advice on this??

Is there something wrong with having 48 gigabytes. That's half of what my computer's maximum space is, and it had 2.8 for a while until I cleared it up.
