[Game] Mini Slug Project
Hi there,

For those who could be interested, the final version of my Mini Slug is available.
(Binaries for Windows & Linux included).
Edit : A Mac version is also available now, thanks to my friend "Pouet".

The link didn't change:
http://oldschoolprg.x10.mx/projets.php#minislug

You can now configure the keyboard, and I added joystick support (only tested with an old stick on Windows).

Many thanks for the quality rips found here and there, (nick)names are included in the credits.

Have fun, Wink

Clément.

Hello,

I'm not really a ripper but rather a coder. I'm currently working on a game by myself, just for fun.

As I am using many material coming fom The Spriters Resource, and I just made a "public preview", I thought some of you might like to see the result, and the use I made of your rips.

This preview is limited to 1 mission, and not everything is finished/tuned up. But I think it's playable and is a good glimpse of what the final product will be. (There will be 3 missions in the final product, and hopefully more stuff !).

There are no ingame credits by now, but don't worry, there'll be in the final version.

I did the archive today, and I've had no time to translate the readme file in english. Sorry about that.

You'll need the following controls :
On the main menu :
1 (or keypad 1) : switches 1 credit / 3 credits / infinite credits.

To play :
Directional arrows,
V = Shot,
C = Jump,
X = Bomb,
Down + C to exit a vehicle.

F10 to switch widowed mode/fullscreen mode.

You can get the archive here :
http://oldschoolprg.x10.mx/projets.php#minislug
(Sorry the page is in french)

There is a Windows exe and a Debian 5 elf, the later also seems to run on an Ubuntu and a Debian Squeeeze 64 bits.

At the moment, the credits for the rips are going to (in no particular order): Gussprint, The Mad Soldier, Random Rebel Soldier, C2000MC/Futaokuu, Random Talking Bush, Kevin Huff, Grey Wolf Leader, Magma Dragoon, AzRaezel/Dan, The_Protagonist, Tk big_mickey_k, Grim, @$$h0l3 (what a nickname is that!?), Crazy Slug, Xezan... and some 'unsigned' rips. Hope I'm not forgetting anyone. (Obviously, I'm not using the rips of all these people in just one mission ! Wink ).

Clément.

PS : I'm not an English speaker, please excuse my mistakes.

Edit :
Screenshot (well, I moved the truck since, but I got too lazy to make another sreenshot).

Edit 2 :
Added a mode 2x and TV2x, switch with F9. For optimum performance (especially if used on a Linux system), please switch to a 16 bits color depth screen mode, the conversion 16 > 24(or 32) bits seems very sloooow.

Hi,

@Arisa:
You are perfectly right! Thanks for the moving. Wink

(I think I orginally posted in the arcade section because I'm mainly using sprites and backgrounds found there, and also because I didn't thoroughfully search the other sections. My mistake, sorry about that).

Thanks ! Wink

The sound is lame and there are many features missing, but there are so many things in Metal Slug... I never even thought of making something as great as the first MS anyway !

I'm still willing to test your RPG, do you know if the problem I have is related to my (old) hardware ? Do I have to wait longer ? Is some DLL or something missing in the archive ? (Some SFML DLL maybe ? After 2 or 3 minutes of printing out the same error message, I have the feeling the program just can't draw anything in the main window).

I'm not sure whats up. The game works fine on my two comps. I heard sfml uses opengl and SDL uses software rendering. Maybe that has something to do with it. When I release my new build, I will let you know.Smile

Anyway, founded this: MS sounds

Have you considered making games for ios and other devices?

Hello,

I'll try to run your program on others computers, I'll let you know. (My machine is rather old, everything isn't probably up to date).

Thanks for the WAV files! Smile Nice discover!
I never found these, I guess my googling was wrong. (And I knew this forum!).

As for the development on other devices, I kind of hate smartphones and similar "no-buttons" devices, and I don't own handheld consoles. But it would be fun to see the game on a Dingoo or a JXD S5110. (I was pleased to hear that there is a port of my "Arkanoïd" on Dingoo and Pandora!). That is, once I'll release the source code, something which at the moment I've decided to delay.

Clément.
