Well, I poked around in my PSP and found out I have 6.20 firmware. Typical.

Apparently now my only alternative is to buy a fully modded one off ebay or something.

Actually there are ways to do it now, so long as you don't have a PSP-3000, PSP GO, or a certain motherboard on the PSP-2000. There's a guide for doing it here that should be pretty reliable:
