GIMP question
Long time, no see, tSR.
I have a GIMP question(though if this is not the right section, flog me please):
I have been working on a logo for my Final Fantasy fan game. If you google final fantasy logos, you can see how the portraits behind the actual "Final Fantasy" name get a kind of gradient fill.

How would I go about that in gimp to achieve that effect?
I am really aiming for something similar to how FFVI and FFX logos look.

I already have my portait setup and ready to go, I just have no real clue how to turn it into that using GIMP.

I never was a pixel artist...or GIMP user >.>

Appreciate any help

RE: GIMP question
Yeah, this hasn't anything to do with Spriting and Pixelart; so you're in the wrong place, buddy.

Moving this to Requests for you.

RE: GIMP question
I'm not sure how to do it in GIMP, but in Photoshop you would make a single-color image the shape of what you want your background picture to be. Then you make a layer that's just a gradient and use the single-color image as a mask.

RE: GIMP question
Thankyou. Currently looking into that article. I'll post the title if I can get it close to what I want it to be. Thanks again.

Here's my current progress:
Any pointers would be appreciated. Not requesting anyone to fix it, since I would like to learn by hands-on.

The words "Final Fantasy" would be bottom-centered and I will most likely put it against a white background as most Advanced FF titles are.
I am also going to shrink it by quite a bit later on. I also realize i cut off part of Zidane's head -.-

The renders are really choppy.. The b/w ones sword is cut off in our left (his right) hand..

other than that it looks fine.

RE: GIMP question
Keep in mind that when 'cutting out' renders, you want to have anti-aliasing on so you don't get white artifact 'edges' when you paste it onto the background. In photoship you can add a 'stroke' layer effect that outlines a layer; which can often hide artifacts like that.

I dunno if you can achieve the same effect in GIMP.
