what I have learned from taking a course on Jack the Ripper:
1) the entire case is a shitshow
2) all discussions on the matter 100+ years later are even more of a shitshow
3) Ripperologists are, for the most part, pretentious douchebags who also do not like to listen to opinions (even if said opinions are backed by good evidence)
4) Some Ripperologists also make a living by trolling other Ripperologists
5) The "lack of hard evidence" argument is about as useful as any other fallback argument because no shit there won't be any hard evidence
